Nothing's Gonna Change My World
Er Guma's leaving tomorrow.
She'll be heading over to HK,then going back to Boston.So my mum decided that we should give her a nice treat before she leaves.I honestly don't know how she can eat that much.haha.
So while the oldies were playing mahjong after dinner,Ollie and I hung out with Shan in his room for quite a while,just talking about random things.We started educating him on the "Singaporean Language".
Singaporean Language you say?
Well,we were trying to tell him the typical Singaporean racist jokes,and he didn't quite get them.So we had to break it down for him by explaining how each race in Singapore has its own lingo.For example,Malays like to say "Relac" instead of "Relax";Chinese use the word "Wah Lau" as an exclamation etc...
It was pretty funny having to go into such detail about why we pronounce our words like that.I guess it's such a normalcy and an inborn thing for us that we don't think twice about what we say.
Cool eh?

The weather's really unbearable nowadays.Why does Singapore have to be so hot??Even Sky Captain Joe's feeling mighty restless...
Ollie and the rest of Always Marcia went to watch STAR WARS EP (III) : Revenge of the Sith at Cineleisure today.I for one,am not a Star Wars fan.The guys have been spending the last few chillout sessions trying to explain the whole Star Wars saga to me,but to no avail.I still mix Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker up.
(Who's the dad and who's the son again?)
Anyway,this whole "quest" of mine started when Wei Han was talking about a stupid joke Collis made when he was in Music and Com class...
Wei Han: (to Collis) I've finished my guitar solo assignment
Collis: (sniggering) I don't know why I've never thought of this before,but from this day on,I dub thee Han Solo!
Wei Han: ......
Me: ?
Collis and his stupid obsession with Star Wars and giving everyone a nickname.e.g Yu Da's known as "Yoda",Mark is"Mac" ( I don't know why) and I'm "Smart-arse".
But I have to admit,he's pretty hilarious.
I bet Sissy Juich is having a great time over in the US of A.*groan* She's escaping the dreadful weather here...
Oh well,I'm just waiting for Ollie to finish his movie and come back for dinner.We're having a goodbye feast for Er Guma,she's heading back to Boston tomorrow.
On another note...
Tasks I have to complete within these 2 weeks:
1) Bloody arrangements for the musical
2) Memorize my 3 stupid piano scores for exam
3) Study for Advanced Theory exam on 2nd June
4) Practice songs for Contemp Ensemble,Pop-rock band and a probable gig for ONO
5) Finish recording Always Marcia's demo

+KINGS OF CONVENIENCE+ : This duo is really one-of-a-kind. It's just two guys equipped with two guitars,2 pairs of magical hands and angelic voices. This is the band to listen to if you're feeling stressed out or you just wanna kick back and relax.

+DREAM THEATER+ : Gotta thank Yu Da for this one.He used to send me song after song after song over MSN,and that's what got me hooked on DT.How the hell does anyone write a lick like that???And I have yet to meet a living person sing any of the solos in "Dance of Eternity",note for note.

+DEEP PURPLE+ : What more can I say? They're all LEGENDS. Every kid who picks up guitar will want to learn how to play "Smoke on the Water".And EVERYONE can sing the riff for "Black Night".How's that for world-wide success?

+THE PIXIES+ : You know what's the funny thing?My lecturer Adam Collis was the one who got me listening to this band.How ironic.HAHA.And I just love it that their bassist is a girl!!!

+SMASHING PUMPKINS+ : Billy Corgan is a genius in his own right,and whoever disses him for what he is ought to be tortured and executed by Guerillas. My favourite song by SP has to be "Beautiful", and "Luna" has a special place in my heart as well.=)
5. +SILVERCHAIR+ : Creativity and personality are the two things this band possesses.Got hooked when I was in Secondary 3;Nadia was my fellow Silverchair fan!Their unorthodoxed chord progressions and unusual melodies make them one of the best bands around,in my opinion that is.
4. +THE STROKES+ : Now these guys are really really tight,and it doesn't hurt that Fab Moretti (drums) is so darn hot.HA!
3. +NIRVANA+ : I fell in love with Kurt Cobain and gang when I heard their song Drain You on one of my guy friends' discman when I was 13 or 14,and I've never turned back.And I love love LOVE Ollie for getting me the Nirvana Special Edition DVD+Unreleased songs CD for my birthday. =)
2. +AEROSMITH+ : I want to be Steven Tyler.I want to sing like he sings,I want to move like he moves,I want to scream like he screams.I WANT TO BE IN AEROSMITH!!!

1. +BEATLES+ : I'm sure you can tell I'm a huge Beatles fan.Practically all my entry titles are either Beatles song titles or excerpts of Beatles lyrics. I love John Lennon for what his music represents. He's just so...Beautiful.

So Long And Good Night
ROCK STARS.
They are the epitomy of hardcore testosterone-filled machoism.Rock concerts are so spectacular,so enticing,you always leave the arena covered in sweat - both yours and hundreds of other people's.Majority of the legendary Rock bands are all-male,seldom do you find a woman playing a crazy guitar solo or running around on stage thrusting her hips towards the audience while hitting an unbelievably high note using her falsetto.
Rock music is masculinity at its best,it makes a guy feel like a real dude.
Why then,do so many Rock stars indulge in androgyny?
Freddy Mercury,David Bowie aka Ziggy Stardust,Brian Molko and Gerard Way are artistes who parade around in their made up faces and effeminate ways without shame,yet even straight men worship and idolize them.
I was watching the Freddy Mercury/Queen tribute concert VCD Ollie got me for my 18th birthday,and as the short clips of Freddy Mercury played during the short breaks between bands,I was reminded of my obesession with the Glam Rock era a while ago.After watching Velvet Goldmine,it compelled me to dig deeper into my fascination with artistes from the Glam Rock era.It was a time for drugs,booze,cigarettes,and sex.Lots of it.Be it man-on-woman,man-on-man or man-on-man-on-woman-on-man-on-woma......
You get the idea.
Don't get me wrong,I'm not here to slam any of the above situations I've brought up.
I'm a SUCKER for androgyny.Especially androgynous rockers.

love that whole "I'm a guy,but I don't give a fuck about what people think if I act or dress this way" attitude.I like extremes - guys with long and curly hair or just a buzz cut.

Nostalgia.
That's what I felt when I was reading all my older entries.It's so sad how people just come and go in your life,whether you want them too or not.Sometimes it matters,sometimes you just don't care.
I've loved and lost a lot in my life,and whether the person's a friend or a loved one,I always seem to get very affected by my loss.I guess I'm just the kind of person who really treasures relationships very much,especially with my close circle of friends.I hate it when politics stir things up.
I guess that's why I appreciate the few people who make it a point to stay close to me in my life,like Ollie,Suf,Mark,Ying,Boss,Yuda,Noel,to name a few.They're the people I see and share moments with everyday.I love them to bits.
Anyway,to "moumouren":
Feelings have been rekindled,I know that.But I hope you'll keep to your word and make this as uncomplicated as possible.

Prank calls.
That's like soooo primary school man...
I was woken up by my phone vibrating under my pillow (it really works,gets you up in no time) and it was an incoming call from a withheld number.Nothing strange,most of my friends use private phone numbers.So I pick up,and there's this guy on the line,who strangely sounds like Shaun Seow.Haha!
So the whole time I'm like
"Hello?Hello?Who's this?"
and the guys just keeps replying
"Hello?*panting*Can you hear me?*panting*"
and he's moaning and groaning a little,like he's crying.
So I thought,maybe Shaun and Jo had a fight,and he's crying...blahblahblah.Next thing I know,he says...
"You have a nice underwear."
(Pause.Moment of silence.)
You have A nice underwear??What the hell??
After a while,he started asking again
"Hello?Are you there?*panting*Can you hear me?"
Boy,did I let it rip.
